well, i read alot of articles so far and i cant find a problem similar to mines.
my quad sat for 9 months in a shed with the gas in the tank. at first my quad cranked and turned on but then died. i tried to turn it on again and it wouldnt go, so i pulled the carb out to clean it like on those youtube videos
at first i did like the videos instructed, but after my first clean up, my carb started to drip gas from all over even from the run off even wen the valve was closed. so i pulled it out again to reclean it and to make sure everything was on right, but only this time the quad iddled high, so i pulled out the carb again and just to be on the safe side, but only this time the quad started and iddled great :icon_ peace: but wen i press the throttle it bogged and it shut off restarted it stays on, but wen u push the throttle a little it shuts of quik
any idea of wat could be the problem ???
i did not remove or replaced or re-adjusted or took out any of the iddle screws..
please any help willbe appreciated

Welcome to the forum
You need to remove the cab, drop the bowl and remove the main and slow jets, remove the air screw, turn it in and make sure to count how many turns it takes to lightly seat it then back it out and remove it. remove the little dowl pin holding the float assembly in and needle make sure you keep track of where everything is at. spray out the carb with carb cleaner and blow it out with compressed air the jets need to be cleanes as well use a single bristle from a wire brush they work the best

i did everything as instructed as far as cleaning the jets and the float assembly...i got plenty of carb cleaner and my best time so far to remove and open up and clean it out the carb is at a mere 5 minutes lol...

The air mixture screw is on the bottom of the carb just in front of the bowl, it will be a "D" shaped head. You need to make sure you got all the boot clamps on in the correct place and tight. you sill have a piece of trash lodged somewhere 5 min isn't going to cut it...lol. check the petcock bowl on the bottom of the tank too.

thanks for the info......i figured my next suspect would be that "d" shape screw....i first replaced the pin that interacts with the floaters...and i have the same problem...so, i could not find a "d" shape tool on demand, so i :icon_ cry: forked over $80 for a sonic cleaning...and the tech said "it's gonna be as good as new" and i still have the same problem
quad turns on and iddles great
quad shuts off and will not turn on with the choke on
if quad is on, it boggs and shuts down when given throttle
any ideas ??

1. Download a shop manual in the link below in my signature.
2. Then read this >>> http://www.hondaatvforums.net/forums/repair-maintenance/7755-06-trx250ex-carburetor.html
3. Drain the gas from your tank by removing the main fuel line and letting it drain into a container to dispose of it.
If you didn't drain the gas in the tank, then you may have pissed away the $80 for cleaning. You can't clean the carb and then reintroduce trash back into the carb from 8 month old gas.
If you're lucky, the little screen that is inside the main fuel line is clogged with trash and when you remove that and drain your tank and clean the line again, you might have fixed the problem.

Also, just to be safe, check the air filter and clean it well, allow it to dry and replace the spark plug with a new one. No matter if the one in there is 3 days old or 3 weeks old, replace it.

it's fixed! Can you be more specific what it was since I haven't been inside my 250ex carb yet and don't know what you refer to. Main jet? Pilot screw?

Throttle needle? Throttle chamber? guide pin? Yeah, I don't have a clue what he's talking about either. What's a guide pin? It would help if you use the terminology in the manual.
It's great that you got it fixed though!

Yes im sorry....the brass cylinder goes inside the jet. It fell out wen I was cleaning the carb and didn't realize it fell out. So I" figured" that it went on the other side. My computer took a shoot so I can't upload pics of how it went down.....luckily my droid allows me to log on here....
im about to load my quads n im outta here I should've been gone since friday morning but i'll take 1 day of riding...
